My Performance Art Characters have included The Beggar Woman, Avatara, Grace, The Boddhisatva and The Minister from the Imperial Courts. The Beggar Woman is an Archetypal Old Wise Woman, beggar, prophetess, full of provocative musings on the world, a'kin to England’s 'Mother Shipton', of 16th Century fame. The Beggar Woman engages in Site Specific Performance Art, with some scripted elements and props but likes to make use of the time space of her local to inspire her communications. She likes to interact with audiences and has been seen publicly at The Body Voice Centre during the 'Company of Others' gatherings . She can been seen on Youtube.
Beggar Woman Walks by the Waters is a short film with original composed music and includes select commentary and text work. It was based on a site specific improvisation in the winter of 2012. It is available as an MP4 DVD to purchase from the Artist.
Beggar Woman also performed in Beggar Woman Wails for The World of Women in a special event The Goddess Within to raise funds for sex trafficked victims of Asia in Embracing Spirits Event in 2014.
My characters always touch on the spiritual, mythic, environmental and cultural domains with commentary on the issues that we face today.
Avatara is a Blue masked Figure who evolved out of a mask making session, from a figure called The Melancholy Avatar who through her metamorphosis taught me much. She is more inclined to mime and personal engagement,and likes to go on walkabouts. She features on the cover of Revolution Complete, Catherine's debut album for her Ambient Electro Acoustic Soundscape project named, 'Avatara and The Eternal Presence Orchestra' walking out of a geometric field of a Stellar constellation.
Grace was an embodiment of the Divine Feminine who performed special blessing rites and song at Embracing Spirits Dancing Within- asking What is the sacred?
The Boddhisatva was also a divine feminine embodiment of mercy and a spokesperson for the earth and all its life forms in my play By The Mandate of Heaven. The Minister from the Imperial Courts of Weights and Measures is the male counterpart to the Boddhisatva, he embodied sagely wisdom and a Tao like perspective, a kind of modern day Confucius pr Lao Tzu who was a keeper of the scrolls and administrator of the Imperial Courts.
